May We Meet Again
Maasai Mara, Kenya (2020)
The disempowerment of a child comes from creating thoughts of doubt and fear. Contrastingly, a child’s empowerment is created through the faith shown by their parents and that is how this brave cheetah mum succeeds.
However, even good parenting can result in casualties. This is often a consequence of a food chain that solidifies the notion that is the circle of life.
This image was prior to Imani losing all of her four cubs to larger predators. Apex predators often take any chance to neutralise competitors within their territory and it’s a known fact that only about 5% of infant cheetahs make it to adulthood. It was reported that Imani’s bravery is the reason why her other cubs survived as long as they did, and losing the little one's were just a result of misfortune.
